My best pastime of the day is on the mountain of myrrh and on the hill of frankincense. There I receive clear revelation. At this moment, my heart is moved by this thought that has flooded my being. And I feel so small and deeply grateful, that God has kept my heart from seeking recognition from men.
Every praise from man diminishes some of the trappings that the Father is using to beautify my heavenly future. Every earthly recognition is a glory reward destroyer in heaven.
The grace of God in me will not allow the praise of men and human recognition, to tarnish the crown that my Savior won for me.
“Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, I will go away to the mountain of myrrh and the hill of frankincense.” (Songs 4:6 MEV).
The mountain of myrrh and the hill of frankincense are not physical places, but are figurative places. Myrrh symbolizes sacrifice, death. A place where I surrender my will so that it is His will done and not mine.
The hill of frankincense symbolizes prayer. In the mount of myrrh I shed tears of pain and uncertainty because there are shadows on my path, but I surrender my will to the Lord. And His will is always the best for me.
The tears of surrender purify and remove the painful dust in the soul and refresh it for a sweet communion with Jesus.
No need for earthly recognition! Nothing else matters for me, just the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God!
