“The mind is the tongue of thoughts.”
I heard that expression and really stroke my curiosity.

The thought has a tongue. James, chapter 3, presents a symposium on the tongue, this is part of it:
“but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:8 ESV
Therefore, our thoughts possess something that can be evil. The mind, I believe, has the speed of light. In one instant it can be in heaven, the next in hell.
The mind processes the idea, transmits it to thought, which in turn projects the illusion. It can build the most beautiful castle in the air. And since air is not substantial, it soon collapses.
Then come the weeping and lamenting for something that never existed.

The mind can develop and harbor a hope. And with a dark clarity, it sends it to the thoughts and creates the perfect illusion. An illusion is a product of the imagination and does not distinguish between reality and fantasy. And, it’s a one-sided hope that would never be reciprocated. Because they were merely cold, wandering traces of meaningless thoughts?
I think the tongue of the thoughts can cause more harm than the tongue of the mouth; because of its speed. The mind can fly and build castles in the air; while the tongue cannot move so quickly. A castle in the air has no foundation, only a powerful illusion. Therefore, pain is inevitable for a heart blinded by that illusion.

It’s no wonder that the Lord is very specific about our thoughts. He tells us that we need to renew our minds with His Word. And He also tells us what we should think about:
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8
